Winter ascent of Mount Belmeken

One-day escape to Mount Belmeken over the weekend. With its impressive height of 2626 meters, Mount Belmeken is relatively easy for beginner mountaineers to climb. At its base lies the renowned Belmeken Reservoir, situated at an elevation of 1923 meters above sea level.

Tour Itinerary

Meeting 6:30 AM - Sofia, the parking lot in front of the Vasil Levski National Stadium.

Meeting at 7:00 a.m. at the parking lot in front of the Vasil Levski National Stadium for all registered participants with organized transportation. The journey ahead will take approximately 2 hours.

9:00 a.m.: The meeting point for all individuals with private vehicles is at the Belmeken National Sports Base. Once everyone has arrived, the leaders will conduct a brief briefing and safety instructions for the group. We'll pack our backpacks and set off to execute the day's plan.
We're expecting an elevation gain of approximately +700 meters. The ascent is relatively gentle without technical sections. We'll have enough breaks, and the pace will be adjusted to ensure everyone reaches the summit. Mount Belmeken offers exceptional panoramic views, revealing captivating sights of neighboring peaks like Ravnichal, Sivri Chal, and Ortachal. With smiles and contentment, we'll take photos and then head back. The ascent might take around 3-4 hours depending on conditions and the group's physical preparedness, but we won't rush.

After summiting, we might grab a bite at the facility near the Sports Base before returning to Sofia. Expected return time is around 19:30.

  • In the event of a change in weather conditions during the tour or other unforeseen situations, the guide may change the route or offer another alternative option to the participants for their safety.
  • If the program cannot happen due to bad weather forecast, the organizer will refund 100% of the price to the participants
  • In order to take part in the tour, you must be in good physical health and condition, and notify the organizer in case you have any illnesses or injuries
  • If the number of participants is less than the minimum 6 and the program will not happen, the organizer will notify all registered participants up to 7 days before the event
  • Discounts cannot be combined

Headlamp - An absolute must-have accessory for every mountaineer. It may be necessary for the group to start a trek very early or finish the trek in the dark (force majeure). About 40 liters backpack - Quite enough for one or two day hikes. Please come to treks with a backpack suitable for trekking. Very often, each participant needs to attach snowshoes to their backpack, and this cannot happen with urban backpacks
