The Fotinski Waterfalls and the Bekovi Rocks
🌳 Nature never stops astonishing us with its beauty. Some of the loveliest waterfalls we want to take you to are hidden deep in the embrace of the Rhodope mountains.
The Fotinski waterfall lies in the western Rhodopes along the course of the Fotinska river, 4.2 km from the village of Fotinovo. It sits at 880 m and hides its three cascades in ancient forest.
The Fotinski waterfalls are among Bulgaria's 100 national tourist sites and are decidedly worth seeing.
Tour Itinerary
For those choosing to travel by car, we meet in the village of Fotinovo (we will send you the exact location).
Once the group is together the guides give a short briefing and run through the safety points. Packs on our backs, and we set off to carry out the plan for the day.
We walk mostly on a fairly level forest path alongside the river Fotinska. Reaching the waterfalls themselves takes about an hour. We then work our way through all three cascades in turn. Once everyone has given this rush of water the attention it deserves and taken their photographs, it is time to head back.
The local tavern is expecting us for a quick bite.
Our day does not end there. We get back in the cars and head for the village of Ravnogor and the remarkably panoramic Bekovi rocks.
Past the end of the village we take a broad dirt road and pass the chapel of St Elijah the Prophet.
Another 30 minutes' walking brings us to the viewing platform on the Bekovi rocks, from which we can take in the full panorama over the western Rhodopes and part of the Vacha reservoir.

Suitable shoes for the mountain, according to the weather forecast. High ankle or low shoes. You may wear sneakers to change into at the end of the program

Headlamp - An absolute must-have accessory for every mountaineer. It may be necessary for the group to start a trek very early or finish the trek in the dark (force majeure). In these situations, each participant must have a headlamp. We recommend going with a proven brand like Petzl or BlackDiamond
