Tour Itinerary
Early departure from Sofia at 6:00 AM. Our meeting point is in front of the Vasil Levski Stadium. We head towards Greece passing by Bansko, Gotse Delchev toward the Falakro ski center at 1740 meters above sea level. Here, we park the cars, conduct a group check, receive safety instructions from the mountain guide, and head towards the highest point of the mountain.
Bozdag is a mountain in Northern Greece, locally known as Falakro, translated as 'gray mountain.' It is located south of the town of Gotse Delchev. The highest peak is Prophet Elias at 2232 meters, which is our destination for the day. The hike is moderate and suitable for everyone. On clear days, we'll enjoy incredible views of Pirin, Rhodope, and Pangaio. The route involves gradual ascent with a total elevation gain of around 600 meters.
During the ascent, we'll also pass by and have a brief glimpse of the Snow Cave.
The cave's depth is 111 meters, the temperature never exceeds 1°C, and it always contains snow. The hike passes along sheer cliffs, which are well secured and offer an incredible panoramic view.
After reaching the summit, photos, smiles, a cup of aromatic tea, and then we head back downhill.
The day doesn't end here!
We immerse ourselves in the Christmas spirit in Drama. We will visit one of the most popular bazaars during Christmas - Oniropoli.
We'll enjoy a glass of mulled wine and treats under the glow of Christmas lights and music. Then, we head back to Bulgaria to settle into the hotel near the border. Accommodations will be in double and triple rooms based on availability.
We're heading towards the western part of the Rhodope Mountains, to Dobrash and the phenomenon of DrumManovi Skali (Drumanov Rocks). The hike is quite easy and not demanding, perfect for a Sunday.
