The Greben mountains lie on the border between Bulgaria and Serbia, east of the Ruy range, between the Zavalska mountains in Bulgaria and the Vlaška mountains in the Western Outlands. The river Jerma, running between Greben and Vlaška, has carved the beautiful Poganovo gorge in the Western Outlands. After the border was drawn in 1920 under the Treaty of Neuilly, only a small part of the range's south-eastern slope remained on Bulgarian territory.
🏔️ Its highest summit is Dziglina Livada (1,337 m), on Serbian territory. On the Bulgarian side stands Dragovski Kamik (1,118 m), between the Tran villages of Vrabcha and Filipovtsi. Its northern side has the shape of a tall pyramid, which is why it is known as the Tran Matterhorn.
The climb is easy, ideal for an undemanding day out on a colourful autumn day.

Tour Itinerary
We set off from the Dragovska hamlet on a winding path past the Dragovo spring and the Bezhanska cave. From there a steady, slightly steeper climb leads to Dragovski Kamik. After allowing plenty of time for photographs and the panorama from the summit, we descend by a path dropping towards the Brashlyan area.
That makes it a circular route.
Our final stop is the Paramun inn, where we break for good food, with the chance to buy home-made things to take away.
Note: given enough time, as a bonus to the programme, we go in search of the mysterious temple-well outside the village of Garlo. Built in the 12th century BC, nobody can yet say for certain what it was created for - whether an ancient solar calendar or a cult site for honouring the elements. Temple-wells like ours are found in Palestine and Crimea. What can be said with certainty is that the temple is older than the Thracian megaliths in the Rhodopes.
