Tour Itinerary
The transfer to the village of Kamena takes about 3:00 hours. On arrival, a walk awaits us through the beautiful valley of the Kameshnitsa river, where we will visit a striking series of waterfalls, among them the Kamenitsa falls and several other magical spots. A short transfer then takes us to the neighbouring villages, which are the starting point for the next waterfalls. At the end of the day we settle in at the Belasitsa hut.
Today we rise early, have breakfast and pack so that we can set off as soon as possible. The real body of the weekend's trek is ahead of us, with considerable ascent and distance to cover. Our first stop will be the Kongur hut, where we will spend the night.
Our way continues on a well-marked path crossing wooded slopes and open ground on the northern side of the mountain. We will pass through sections of steeper climbing until we reach the highest point of Belasitsa - Radomir peak, which rises to 2,029 metres. From here we can enjoy remarkable views to the south, with clear sight of the Greek mountains and Lake Kerkini.
On the way back we follow the crest of the range itself, which runs along the border between Bulgaria and Greece. We will cross several summits, among them Debelo Bardo and Kongur peak (1,951 m), from which new views over the surrounding country open up. We spend the night at the hut.
Today we sleep in, and after breakfast we head for the Belasitsa hut. From there we board the transport and visit the Samuil fortress - an emblematic place in Bulgarian history. We then transfer for lunch to one of the most beautiful villages in Bulgaria, where we will walk around and take in this colourful oasis.
