Ski Touring Course - Introduction NEW
We invite you to make your first ski tour. Feel the freedom of moving on skis away from the pistes. It is much the same as a walk on snowshoes - except for how quickly you come back down.
Come and enjoy a day on Vitosha with us. Training starts at 9:30. The meeting point is announced a week before the event, depending on the snow conditions.
You will learn:
- the rules for moving as a group
- how to use a ski touring set - walk mode, descent mode, fitting, removing and storing skins
- techniques for climbing
- changing direction
- how to descend off-piste according to the terrain
- a demonstration of how to use a transceiver, probe and shovel, with a talk on avalanche safety
After the practical exercises we go over the day together with a cup of tea.
The group is accompanied by a ski guide who is a mountain rescuer.
If you do not have your own equipment, contact us and we will help arrange a rental.
