The course is intended for people with sea kayaking experience who have completed L1.
If you are an improving paddler with your core skills well practised, this course is for you. It is designed to give you theory together with group and individual coaching, to help you refine your paddling skills in wind, current and around rocky shores. You will step outside your comfort zone in force 4 winds (20-28 km/h, 11-16 knots), with waves up to a metre.
The level 2 course runs as two full days of training. It reinforces and builds on the sea kayaking skills taught at level 1, and you will also learn how to rescue others - and how to be rescued — in deep water, using the T and X rescues.
New skills on this course:
- First steps towards the Eskimo roll
- Techniques for correcting your course in a dynamic environment
- Paddling around rocky shores
- Paddling in waves
