In the Wild North-West - the Three Chuki and the Mushroom Jam of the Chiprovtsi Balkan NEW

The Chiprovtsi Balkan is one of those hidden treasures of the Balkan Range - far from the tourist crowds, but full of unspoilt natural beauty and calm. Our adventure takes us to the border summit of Trite Chuki, from where we enjoy panoramic views over ancient forests and colourful mountain meadows. Along the way we meet curious rock formations, and at Zhar hut we warm up with fragrant tea and try its famous mushroom jam.

Tour Itinerary

The transfer to Zhar hut takes around 2 hours 30 minutes. After a short preparation we begin the walk, which at first passes through picturesque broadleaf forest. We continue to the Yakovo Boishte area, from where we climb to the ridge of the range and enter the broad border pastures, overgrown with juniper. After about 4 hours 30 minutes we reach Trite Chuki, crossing its three sharp tops one after another.

There is the option of descending by an alternative route. On reaching Zhar hut we take a well-earned break with fragrant tea, and anyone who wishes can try or buy its famous mushroom jam. After a short rest we head back to the vehicles, full of impressions from a beautiful walk.
