A circular high-mountain walk in the heart of Pirin - from Vihren hut along the wild Tipitsko ridge, over the summits of Vazela, the Tipits and Prevalski Chukar.
This is a programme for hikers looking for more than a path - a day among granite edges, emerald cirque lakes and panoramas over the whole of Central Pirin. We set off from Vihren hut, cross the main ridge by way of Vazela, Golyam and Malak Tipits to Prevalski Chukar, and return via Damyanitsa hut and the Todorini lakes to our starting point. The route includes rocky sections and demands excellent mountain fitness.

Tour Itinerary
The day begins at Vihren hut (1,975 m), beneath the north faces of the range's highest peak. We head south past the Banderitsa lakes - feasting our eyes on the clear Okoto, Ribno and Zhabeshko lakes - and begin the steeper climb to the main watershed ridge. We come out at Vazela (2,620 m), where we join the Vihren-Tevno Lake route and turn onto the wild Tipitsko ridge.
From here on the ridge strings summit after summit like the beads of a rosary: Golyam Tipits (2,645 m) and Malak Tipits (2,644 m), threaded along a narrow rocky crest. This is the heart of the walk - and here too is Malkoto Konche, the Little Horse: a short, narrow ridge with steep sides, crossed carefully and only in dry weather. The views are breathtaking - the Prevalski lakes to the left, the Valyavishki lakes to the right, and on the horizon Gazey, Dzhangal and Kamenitsa.
After the ridge crossings we reach Prevalski Chukar (2,605 m), the last summit on the crest. From here the long descent begins, through the cirque to Damyanitsa hut (1,888 m) - the lowest point of the day and the place for a proper rest. The final stretch takes us back through the Todorini lakes area and a second climb to the ridge above the Banderitsa cirque, before the long descent to Vihren hut.
