Tour Itinerary
The route starts at Midzhur hut (813 m) and follows the red waymarks along the course of the Lom river. At first we walk about 2 km on a gravel track, after which the path enters woodland and the real climbing begins. The ground gradually opens out, the forest thins, and the magnificent main ridge of the Balkan range appears in front of us. We continue towards the saddle between Oba peak (2,033 m) and Midzhur, pass boundary pyramid 336 on the Bulgarian–Serbian border, and after a final push up the north-western slope reach the summit.
From Midzhur a staggering panorama opens out — on clear days the view takes in endless ridges and valleys on both sides of the border, and the sense of satisfaction after the ascent is beyond description.
