Tour Itinerary
We set off from the square of the village of Golyama Fucha, from where we follow the red waymarks up the steeper but more panoramic ridge. The path soon brings us out above the shade of the forest and opens wide views towards the basins of Kyustendil, Dupnitsa and Radomir, with conical Vitosha on the horizon, the snowy crests of Rila and the sharp silhouettes of Pirin. To the south-west the Osogovo mountains stand out with their highest peak, Ruen. A picture worthy of a true mountain storyteller spreads out in front of us.
From the summit we descend on the yellow waymarks, which bring us to the Vedritsa hut - a forest hut stopped in time, the ideal place for lunch with a view of the woods. A little further down the real finale of the day awaits: the Yankyovets reserve and its unique habitat of the wild pink peony, a protected species that survives only here, in the Konyavska mountains. We continue along the gently sloping dirt road past an ancient oak with a stone cross at its foot, and return to the village.
