Gredaro Peak, the Vlahini and Georgiyski Lakes – Rila

Gredaro Peak, the Vlahini and Georgiyski Lakes NEW

Ahead of us is a circular route to Gredaro peak (2,605 m) - one of the lesser-known but striking places in Pirin. The summit lies north-west of Muratov peak and is an excellent vantage point over the Marble Ridge and the Vlahini lakes. During the walk we also reach the beautiful cirque of the Georgiyski lakes, and the well-known but always captivating Muratovo lake. This is a walk away from the main paths - with breathtaking views, more quiet, and a genuine mountain experience.

Tour Itinerary

The transfer to Vihren hut takes around 2 hours 45 minutes. The walk begins with the climb to picturesque Muratovo lake. From there we head up to the Vlahini col, from which we drop into the beautiful cirque of the Vlahini lakes - one of the quieter and wilder places in Pirin. A steeper climb up the slopes of Gredaro follows, bringing us to its highest point. From the summit, impressive views open over the surrounding lakes and peaks. We continue down to the Georgiyski lakes, and after a short rest climb towards the Banderitsa Gate. The last part of the route takes us back to Muratovo lake, from where we return by the familiar path to Vihren hut. If the group is going well and conditions allow, we will have the chance to climb Muratov peak too.
