The Central Balkan is strewn with beech forest and waterfalls. Kademliysko Praskalo is one of the most picturesque in the area, set at the foot of Triglav peak at 1,500 m above sea level. The waterfall is part of the Kademliyska river, a right tributary of the Tazha. Standing beneath it, its 70 metres command respect.
We spend the night at our favourite Triglav hut, from which we will set off not only for the Kademliysko and Babsko falls but also for the highest point of the Triglav massif, Golyam Kademliya peak (2,275 m). The climb to it offers panoramic views over the heart of the Balkan range and is a fine adventure for anyone who loves wild country and high horizons.

Tour Itinerary
The transfer to the village of Tazha takes about 3:00 hours.
We begin the walk from the village on a path that takes us up to the Rusalka hut. We rest at the hut and continue upwards - the path leads through ancient beech forest to a rock edge with a striking view of the 54-metre Babsko Praskalo. From there we follow the line of the old eco-route, cross the river and reach the Triglav hut, where we settle in and leave the heavy packs. After a short rest we set off for Kademliysko Praskalo, an imposing waterfall over 70 metres high. The day ends with dinner and a night at the hut.
After breakfast, with light packs, we head for the highest point of the Triglav massif, the magnificent Golyam Kademliya peak (2,276 m). It is the third highest in the Balkan range, after Botev and Malak Yumruk (2,340 m). From the summit an astonishing view opens towards the highest peak of the range, Botev, and towards other notable ridges and summits. There is a shelter on the summit itself - an ideal place for a short rest and a well-earned refuel. After time for photographs and a breather, we head down to the Triglav hut, collect our luggage and set off for the village of Tazha, charged with views, memories and mountain energy.
