The E4 in Bulgaria is part of the longest European walking route. Its Bulgarian section crosses five mountain ranges - Vitosha, Verila, Rila, Pirin and Slavyanka. The path runs mainly through the alpine zone, the treeless belt that offers some of the most striking panoramas but also holds harsh weather and the challenges that come with it. On this trek we will cover a small but exceptionally scenic part of the route - from the Vihren hut to one of the most emblematic places in Pirin, Tevno Ezero.
The programme suits moderately experienced hillwalkers in good physical condition with experience of long days on the hill.

Tour Itinerary
The transfer to the Vihren hut takes about 3:00 hours.
On arrival we prepare our packs and, after the obligatory briefing, set off for the Bashliyska porta. As we climb towards it, the „spine“ we are to follow opens up in front of us - a succession of peaks and cols linked in one magnificent line. We will climb five summits, each revealing breathtaking views of the lakes tucked beneath their slopes. All day we move over stony ground, in open high-mountain country under the wide Pirin sky. On reaching the shelter we settle in - time for a well-earned rest, and for a few moments enjoying the silhouette of tomorrow's objective, Kamenitsa peak. And for the most enthusiastic there will be a special end to the day: sunset from Valyavishki Chukar, with a panorama that stays with you for good.
*Please note: the technical figures given for the route include the time to climb Valyavishki Chukar.
A long day awaits us, returning by a different route, so we will rise early and be on the path in the cool morning hours. Our main objective is the imposing Kamenitsa peak, one of the symbols of Pirin. On the summit we will have time to rest and take photographs before returning to the shelter for breakfast. Once we have eaten, we begin the long descent through the valley of the river Demyanitsa, towards the Vasilashki cirque. From there a climb awaits that will make us sweat before we reach the beautiful „Todorini Ochi“. Then the last stage - a descent through another valley, this time the Banderitsa, to reach the end point of our route, the Vihren hut.
