For anyone who feels the call of the mountains and seeks solitude amid their wild beauty, the route to the Kalinite, starting from the sacred Rila Monastery, is not merely a path but a journey into the essence of Rila. The steep southern ridges of the north-western part of the range take us to the lonely crest of Malyovitsa and to Dodov peak - an imposing and proud guardian above the valleys. There, over two days, we will throw ourselves into a real crossing over summits and through winds, gathering not only rocky peaks but moments that stay imprinted on the mind for good.

Tour Itinerary
The transfer to the Rila Monastery takes about 2:00 hours.
Our climb begins in the area of the Rila Monastery with a serious amount of height to gain, which we do by following the Dalgiya Rid. It brings us out high between the Mermerite peaks on the Malyovitsa crest. Once on the ridge we head north-west, and on the way to Razdela we will add several more summits to our collection for the weekend. The day ends with a steady descent towards the wild Pazar Dere and the welcoming „Ivan Vazov“ hut, where we will have the chance to meet the sunset in the heart of Rila.
Today a long and no less challenging day awaits us on the way back to the Rila Monastery. After an early rise and breakfast we head for Vintcheto, from where we will make a full traverse of the Kalinite massif. Along the way we will also look in on the highest-lying reservoir on the Balkan peninsula - the Kalin reservoir - before returning to the hut for a short break. After it, a different route back to the holy monastery awaits. On the way we will climb one of the least visited summits in the area - a genuine hidden jewel of Rila. And at the end of the day we will reward ourselves with a well-earned rest and good monastery cooking.
