Our kayaking adventure continues past some of the most striking places on the Bulgarian coast.
🏝️ Bolata greets us with its small, picturesque bay, clear water and the high reddish cliffs that ring it. From a kayak the view is more striking still - quiet, sea and open country as far as the eye can reach.
The route then takes us to magnificent Cape Kaliakra - a long rocky headland cutting deep into the Black Sea. From the water the sheer cliffs look mightier still, and the caves, the rock formations and the endless horizon turn the paddling into a real adventure.
Nights in the wild under the stars
This is one of the wildest and most striking stretches of the Bulgarian Black Sea coast – high rocky shore, curious formations, sea caves, arches and crystal-clear water. In places the cliffs rise tens of metres above the sea, and much of the beauty of this coast can only truly be seen from the water.
In the kayaks we move right along the base of the cliffs and find places that stay hidden from the land - narrow clefts, caves, natural arches and small bays. Every turn reveals a new view, and the sea and the rock together create the feeling of having landed somewhere far from civilisation.
