An easy one-day walk to Bratia peak (1,519 m) - an open ridge meadow in Sredna Gora with a panorama towards the Balkan Range, Vitosha and Rila.
We set off from the small resort village of Panagyurski Kolonii and climb through shady beech forest to one of the most commanding ridges in the whole of the Sashtinska Sredna Gora. The summit is an open grassy meadow - ideal for a long break, for photographs and for lunch on the crest, before we round the day off with a little history or a quiet spell in the area.

Tour Itinerary
We start from the lake in the middle of the village and follow the line of the power transmission line - the waymarking is patchy, but the pylons make navigation straightforward. For the first 30 minutes the path is almost level. Broadly we hold our direction towards Bratia hut, cross the asphalt road serving the Asarel-Medet mines, and climb the steeper second half through the forest. We come out of the trees a little below the summit, and there the panorama we came for opens up. Bratia is a broad grassy ridge meadow rather than a sharp peak - room enough for the whole group to rest in comfort. We descend by the same route.
Once the walk is over we make a short trip to the historic site of Oborishte, where the Oborishte assembly met in April 1876. An easy level path (1 km, about 20 minutes) runs past stone slabs carved with the words of the revolutionaries. It lies some 20-25 minutes from Panagyurski Kolonii.
